Harringtons

So today our friends Ashley and Gordon stopped by and we decided to go grab something to eat.  Fortunately the two places that we tried out first were both closed down at 1pm being that it was Sunday.  So while walking back to the car we noticed this quaint little pub tucked away between some truly nondescript businesses in the Wakefield center.  You’ll have to look for the place if you’re not familiar with it, but let me tell you people…  You’ll be glad you did!

Mood and Atmosphere

I could go for some food and spirits…

First off the place looks just like the picture on their menu that I’ve placed above, however, there is both an American and Irish flag gracing the entrance way above each corner of the doorframe.  Once inside the place is all decked out in a dark wood shined to the perfect warm glow…  We were seated in a booth which matched the rest which had high backs all done in the same wood stopping about shoulder height where a big frosted glass partition with the ‘H’ you see above stamped into it.  The place truly looked great.  The bar was nice and long made of the same mathing wood with several big flat screen TV’s around the place tuned into the Red Sox playing Montreal and other various Sunday sports.   The mood in the place was polite chatter throughout but not so polite that you’d feel stupid for laughing out loud if say Tracy dropped her Bloody Mary’s Olive on the ground…  Also just looking around at the place you could tell that come Friday night would be a hustling, bustling, fun crowd with the live bands…  Perhaps we’ll have to check it out one Friday evening.

Food and Spirits

  Put down my olive!!!

So the food was awesome…  We started out slowly taking in the wonderful breakfast bread stuff that the waitress brought out for us.  Beats me what its called, but it was flaky kinda sorta and sweet with little nutsies.  OMG The shit was off the hook, was a little warm and soaked up the buttah, awesome.  But we didn’t really come for breakfast, we promply ordered up some real food, the Classic Nacho’s minus the jalapenos.  Let me tell ya something, these nachos are done right.  When they arrived at the table my comment was,

Now thats how ya make some nachos.

They were great.  plenty of cheese melted onto the chips the only way to do nacho’s right, in the oven!  Tracy and Ashley had some Clam Chowder which after tasting I had to say was some good New England Clam Chowder! The thing about it was there was so much subtle flavor, was just a very savory soup!  Gordon and Tracy also had ceser salads which certainly looked like some good ceser salad  but which I did not sample.

As for the Entrees, Ashley had the Shepard’s Pie, Gordon had a bacon cheeseburger, and I had the Gaelic Pasta.  I can only comment about the taste of my pasta but I can say that Ashley and Gordons plates were both done up very beautifully.  I mean everything throughout the day was plated artfully.  Ashley’s shepard’s pie mashed potatoes were squeezed out into these little florettes I guess you’d call them.  Gordons burger was all laid out nicely with his well done fries which I can say were done to perfect crispness.   As for the Gaelic Pasta, the dish was very tasty.  So many flavors coming together with a nice garlic flavor and taste.  I think the sauce was done with white wine, beats me, alls I know is the stuff was out frickin standing…  :)

The best part of it all, LEFTOVERS!

As well the bill was very reasonable, for the four of us, we got outta there for 90 bucks.  Thats with a 22% tip.

I certainly suggest you give it a try.  I’m going to give it 4 of 5 T-n-T Poppers simply because, well you know me, I love the taste explosion and while everything was certainly fantastic, being Irish food, the spiceyness was somewhat toned down.  Still though, its a place you have to go to if only for the ambiance and great food!
